2015 MacBook Retina Rumors Explained

Best prices on MacBook Airs

Video Transcript:

What’s up guys? Welcome to MyTechMethods. So there have been a lot of rumors about this new 2015 MacBook Air 12 inch retina that’s supposed to be coming out this year, and yesterday 9to5 Mac released some mockup photos according to their close Apple source. Again nothing has been confirmed by Apple. These are just rumors, but they’re usually right on this thing coming from their source. So we’re gonna go over the new design, everything you need to know about this new rumored 2015 MacBook Air. So remember these pictures I’m gonna show you, it’s not the final design. It’s just mockup photos that were designed by 9to5 Mac, but they designed it according to what they heard from their Apple source. So let’s go over this new rumored 2015 MacBook Air. So it is a 12 inch display. This is different from the 13 inch and 11 inch models that Apple has released in the past, and this new 12 inch MacBook Air is of course going to be smaller than the 13 inch but it’s also narrower than the current 11 inch. So Apple is trying their hardest to make this laptop the smallest and thinnest Apple laptop ever and they’re sacrificing a lot of features. So first of all the bezels around the display have been reduced on all sides so it’s an entire unibody redesign, along with the keyboard that goes from edge to edge leaving hardly any space on the left and right side of the keyboard. And Apple is also bunching up the keys making them closer together to each other, trying to make them more friendly. We all know D doesn’t get along with F. We’ve known that for years so hopefully they can reconcile their differences. So Apple is doing all this stuff just to make this thing smaller and thinner and the trackpad is also closer to the keyboard. There’s not much space between the trackpad and the bottom of the keyboard. And guess what? They took away the click feature on the trackpad. That’s a big no-no. I love my clickable trackpad. I click it all the time. I hardly do the tap to click so I’m not a big fan about that if that is true. So now looking at the MacBook Air when it’s closed, obviously it’s thinner than the current design but it still has that tapered design going from thin on the top to really thin on the bottom. And the speakers have been redesigned. There are four speaker grills above the keyboard, and those holes for the speakers act as the ventilation system for the internals because guess what? Apple took away the fans on the inside so there are no fans inside of this laptop, again to reduce the thickness and make it as compact as possible. Because some genius at Apple was like “Fans? Who needs fans. We got speakers. Holes, air, cooler, science.” The 2015 MacBook Air has the fewest number of ports ever on an Apple laptop. On the right side it’s just a headphone jack and the two microphones. On the left side it has one USB port. That USB port is a Type C port. That’s right. They took away all the standard USB ports, the SD card slot, the Thunderbolt port, and the MagSafe port. So what the heck dude like how are we gonna charge our laptop? Well this new USB type C port is able to handle charging and it’s able to handle displays so what I’m assuming is Apple’s gonna have to ship some type of hub or adapter along with this MacBook Air because you’ll be charging your MacBook Air through this USB Type C port and that’ll leave you with no other ports. So Apple’s gonna have to send something that gives you your SD card slot and your USB ports back. And since Space Gray is one of the most popular colors for iPads and iPhones there is a rumor that this new MacBook Air’s gonna come in a space gray version. So if you like space gray, I like space gray, we’ll see how that looks if that is true. And the rumored release date is mid 2015. So what do I think of this new design? I think it’s outrageous that Apple is sacrificing all these features and usability for just thinness, just to make it as thin and compact and small as possible. I mean the MacBook Air is already pretty small. It’s one of the smallest laptops out there and it’s one of the most portable laptops if you’ve seen my 2014 MacBook Air review, I’ll leave a link in the description. That is the best laptop for travelers and students in my opinion. Nobody’s thinking “Uh yeah I wish this MacBook Air was thinner and smaller and more lightweight. It’s just too heavy.” So the highlights of this new 2015 MacBook Air would obviously be the portability, the thinness, the small compact design, and the battery life. The battery life should be amazing since they have no fan inside and with the new Intel processors if they put those in there. I think that’s kind of a bogus trade-off right now. I wouldn’t want to give up all those features just for a smaller laptop. So I think this new 2015 MacBook Air is like Apple’s iPad version of their laptop models, leaving the MacBook Pro as the more powerful feature filled laptop. So heavily depending on the price and if it comes with that USB hub and how well that hub works, this MacBook Air may be a good purchase but right now I’m just not into it. So what do you think after seeing all these mockups and hearing about the new design? And again this is all rumors. Things could change. Nothing has been confirmed by Apple. We’ll have to wait and see, but let me know your thoughts about this in the comment section below. If you want to check out the full article by 9to5 Mac the link will be in the description as well. So thank you guys so much for watching. Make sure you subscribe to this channel if you want more tech videos and reviews, all that kind of stuff. And give this video a like. I will see you guys in the next video. Bye.

Best Antivirus 2015 – Top 3 Free Programs

Click here to see the updated post “Best Antivirus 2016”

If you’re a PC user, having an antivirus is almost always a necessity.

But which antivirus is the best? Here are my top 3 best antivirus applications in 2015 for Windows computers.

Best Antivirus: BitDefender

In my opinion, BitDefender offers the best free and premium antivirus applications for Windows in 2015. BitDefender Free Edition has everything you’d want in a free antivirus: hassle-free installation, easy-to-use and simple interface, quiet and unobtrusive, lightweight and optimized, real-time protection, and strong threat prevention. It’s a top-ranked antivirus that consistently gets rated as one of the best antivirus programs by security companies each year.

Most people can feel safe with the free edition, but if you’re less tech-savvy and want the peace of mind of having the most complete protection for your Windows computer then BitDefender Total Security 2015 is a solid choice when you want a premium antivirus. It gives you everything you need to keep your computer and data protected if you don’t know much about safe computing and safe web browsing.

Best Anti-Malware: MalwareBytes

MalwareBytes is a free anti-malware program that every Windows user should have installed. The free version features an on-demand scanner that does a great job at finding and removing malware such as worms, Trojans, rootkits, spyware, adware and other threats that can slip by your typical antivirus program.

It’s a smart move to have this installed as a second line of defense along with your main antivirus program. You can run a weekly scan to make sure your system is clean. They also offer a premium version for just $24.95 per year that can be used as your main antivirus and anti-malware program if you’d like.

Best Alternative: Avast

Avast Free Antivirus is a great alternative if you don’t want to use BitDefender. Avast has gained popularity and is known as one of the best free antivirus applications available. Many people swear by it. However, it’s not my favorite because it’s a little too annoying and obtrusive for my taste (default sounds, noises, and pop-ups). However, it does offer strong protection for Windows computers and gets my vote as my 3rd best free antivirus program for 2015.

More Tips to Stay Safe

  • Don’t install software from random websites. If you install software, make sure it’s from a trusted source.
  • Avoid Internet Explorer. Use a more secure web browser like Chrome or Firefox. Also consider an ad-blocker.
  • Don’t click on links or pop-ups. If you encounter links, hover your mouse over them to preview and verify the destination. If it looks suspicious, don’t click.
  • Don’t visit sketchy or unsafe websites.
  • Don’t install toolbars. Consider getting Unchecky.
  • Don’t click on links in emails or download attachments from un-verified sources.
  • If you see something like “OMG watch what happens when this fight breaks out!” on Facebook, don’t click it. Just don’t.

Nodus Access Case Review for iPhone 6

The Nodus Access case is a sleek wallet case for the iPhone 6 and 6+, and it is super classy. As a not so manly guy this case really makes me feel more like a gentleman. I just need a cool British accent to go along with it.

The outside of the case is made of full grain Italian leather, and the inside is made up of a soft micro fiber lining. The leather does feel like a premium material. It’s smooth and shiny. The micro fiber interior also feels nice, and the case is pretty thin and flexible. On the inside it has one large slot so you can store some cash and a couple of cards, but you’re not going to fit much more than that as it is a pretty tight fit.

Not only does it look appealing, it has a very useful feature that I haven’t seen on any other case before. And this feature is the reason why I agreed to do a review of this case for Nodus. It’s the way the case stays on the iPhone.

This case is equipped with micro suction technology. Yes, little tiny suction cups. The inside of the case has a thick strip of micro suction cups that has a sticky feel to it, and when the iPhone is pressed down onto the strip it gets suctioned on and stays put. It’s pretty amazing. The iPhone does not fall out. I’ve been using this case for over a week, and it hasn’t started coming off at all.

On the inside of the flap there is a smaller suction pad that allows the flap to close onto the iPhone by suctioning onto the screen. Pretty cool, so you are able to remove and re-apply your iPhone, but it is a bit difficult to remove and it does take a little bit of force. But once it’s off it doesn’t leave any residue on the iPhone because there are no sticky materials involved, just tiny suction cups.

Now, the protection of the case is not as good as some of the other hardcore cases, but it provides decent protection as long as the flap is closed and stuck to the iPhone. In that case it actually gives the iPhone full front and back protection when dropped but the top, bottom, and side of the iPhone are still slightly exposed so keep that in mind.

The only downside about this case is it’s kind of awkward to actually talk on the iPhone with this case on it. The flap does peel back all the way, but it’s just kind of difficult to hold the iPhone up to your ear when you have to hold the flap back like that.

Other than that, this is a super good looking case that I got a lot of compliments on. People noticed the aesthetics right away, and I definitely like having it on my iPhone 6. If you want to get this case for your iPhone, the link will be in the description below. So thank you for watching my review of the Nodus case for the iPhone 6, and thanks to Nodus for the opportunity to review this case.

Zoom H1 Portable Digital Recorder Review

The Zoom H1 is a popular device when it comes to beginners looking to improve their audio quality. It’s great for podcasters, YouTubers, musicians, vloggers, and journalists. It has good quality audio that you can use as a microphone or as its own portable digital audio recorder. At the end of the review we’ll do an audio quality test so you can hear what the Zoom H1 sounds like.

If you’re watching this review you’re probably looking for a cheap microphone or audio recorder, and the Zoom H1 is one of the best that you can get for the money. It’s versatile and can be used for many different situations. It’s affordable at just $99, and it’s perfect for beginners or amateurs.

First off, the build quality isn’t great. It feels cheap because it’s made out of plastic. I don’t think it’s as durable as the more expensive options, but I’ve never had a problem with mine. The good thing about that is that the plastic makes it lightweight. It can fit in your pocket. It’s small and compact, and that’s what I love about the Zoom H1. It’s portable. You can take it anywhere.

It’s also easy to use. It’s not too complicated. It doesn’t have very many features like the Zoom H4N for example. The H1 is very basic.

On the front you have the LCD display and the big record button. On the right side you have the USB port, hold and power button, delete button, play, pause, forward, back, input level buttons, and the line in so you can connect an external microphone.

On the other side there’s the line out for headphones and the volume up-and-down buttons for playing back your recordings. There’s also a microSD slot. On the bottom there’s the speaker because you can actually play back your recordings and listen to them on the device itself. On the back is the battery slot (powered by one AA battery) and three buttons: lo cut, auto level, and the recording format. It supports WAV and MP3. There’s also a tripod mount.

On the top there is the X/Y stereo microphone. Now I’ll show you how the Zoom H1 works and sounds. If you want record in WAV or MP3 you can adjust the format and bit rate. You can also adjust your input control (or gain). To start recording just press the record button on the front.

Watch the video above and towards the end I do a mic test so you can hear the audio quality on the Zoom H1. In the first half of the video I recorded the audio with my Rode VideoMic Pro shotgun mic on my DSLR. When I switch over to the Zoom H1 it’s about 2 feet away from me with the input level set to 60, and I’m recording in the 320 kbps MP3 format.

It sounds good. I’ve used this for a lot of my videos. It does work perfectly and produces some great quality audio for $99. I do recommend the Zoom H1 accessory pack. It’s another $25 and comes with an adjustable tripod stand, padded shell case, foam windscreen that works as a pop filter, mic clip adapter, AC adapter, and USB cable so you can use this as USB microphone and you can use it to transfer all the files to your computer so you can edit in post. So that’s my Zoom H1 review. A good budget microphone that’s highly recommend it.
